Workshops

Along with being a full service letterpress studio, BWP also offers training in letterpress printing. We start all students off with Letterpress 101, the fundamentals to all letterpress printing. After the completion of LP101 students may build a personalized and advanced studies program to further their learning.

Our wide range of equipment provides students with many opportunities and students' programs can be modified around a specific area of interest in printing.  These interests can include type composition and type casting, study on the iron handpress, book production, mixed media printing with silkscreen and risography, and much more.

Saturday, April 8, 10-2  at Big Wheel Press, Cottage Street Studios, Suite 520, Easthampton, MA

In this 4 hour hands-on workshop we will create an edition of one sheet fold up books using hand set and cast type. Participants are asked to bring in a line from their favorite piece of writing. We will learn how to cast type using a Ludlow, and work collaboratively to create a poem using everyone's lines. We will learn how to use a mockup book to set the type on the press for the correct imposition. The workshop will end with learning the binding structure and creating the editions. Participants will each go home with part of the edition.

Taught by Bill Muller of Big Wheel Press, Holly Wren Spaulding of Poetry Forge & Lisa Hersey of Antler Editions.

 $65, Limited to 12.
